Starting on Sunday April 3rd, we will begin our new study titled 24 Hours That Changed the World by Adam Hamilton. Amy Goodman will be leading us through this study. We will condense this study into 4 weeks, and we will intentionally be studying around the Easter season.
Below is a description of this book (taken from Cokesbury.com):
No single event in human history has received more attention than the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth. In this book, Adam Hamilton guides us through the last twenty-four hours of Jesus' life. Each chapter is designed to help the reader experience and understand the significance of Jesus' suffering and death in a way you have never done before. Whether readers are long-time Christians or simply curious about the story of Christ's crucifixion, they are invited to join the author in retracing the last 24 hours of Jesus' life.

So...if Jesus were to come back today, what would He think of His Church? Of us - generally and specifically? You don't have to respond immediately, just take a little time to think about it. Read. We are so quick to answer with emotion that we often sacrifice intellect, honesty, and thoughtfulness. I ask this because I am truly seeking out how I can make myself more useful for the Lord. I know that there are people in our class who are better read, more knowledgeable, and closer to this goal than I am. I would love to hear your thoughts, and perhaps engage in conversations about this and other potentially difficult-to-face topics about our faith in this blog or in person. I read part of Revelation tonight, and came across 22:18-19. Just prior to it, Jesus says "Outside are the dogs...everyone who loves and practices falsehood." Rev 22:15. I can't help but ponder on how we do this regularly as the Church. Thoughts, questions, concerns, complaints, emotional rantings?...
ReplyDeleteKris Chens is David Knowles - I don't know how to get my posts to show up as me instead of a google group that I created about a year ago called "Kris Chens"
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are posted on my personal blog if anyone is interested. I won't take up space on the common blog for that. But, I will check back and see what other opinions are shared...
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqueline – feel free to post on this blog as much as you like! That's what we created it for! I will also add you both as contributors so you can feel free to actually post, rather than just put comments. :)
